Zoology - New zoology study findings have been reported from Hiroshima University

  2010 AUG 31 - (VerticalNews.com) -- Researchers detail in 'A new species of psammogammarus (amphipoda: melitidae) from kuchinoerabu island, Japan, with a note on its feeding habits,' new data in zoology. "A new melitoid Amphipoda, Psammogammarus mawatarii, is described from Kuchinoerabu Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan," investigators in Japan report.

  "This is the first record of the genus from Asia. The new species is morphologically similar to P. garthi, but differs from the latter in the following features: 1) lateral cephalic lobe of head not strongly produced; 2) head lacking antennal sinus; and 3) posteroventral corner of epimeral plate 3 rounded," wrote K. Zoology - Study data from Hunan University update knowledge of zoology

  2010 AUG 24 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "Two new species, Hypogastrura hexasetata sp. nov. and Hypogastrura heptasetata sp. nov., are described from Central and East China respectively," scientists in Hunan, People's Republic of China report.

  "Both new species belong to H. trybomi group and have highly modified mouthparts," wrote J.G. Jiang and colleagues, Hunan University.
